Lung Association of America

American Lung Association has a website with a lot of information on it. You can find a wide range of information on it: from lung cancer to protecting yourself against cold and flu. Check it out and give me your feedback on it. One nice point I noticed: it is recommended to have chicken soup, they do not know how it works, but it works!

Isle of Wight, UK

If you plan to have a nice trip for a weekend you may want to consider going to the Isle of Wight. It is three miles form south coast of Great Britain. Slightly more than half of the Island, mainly in the west of the Island, is designated as the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is one of the few places in England where you can find red squirrel. Do not get surprised if you found a dinosaur fossil in this Island as it is known as one of the most important areas in Europe for finding such fossils.

There is a nice hotel where you can stay during your visit which is called the "Isle of Wight Hotel". You can use the information on their website to make the booking.

I just read a shocking news in CNN that the author Arthur C. Clark dies. He died Wednesday in his adopted home of Sri Lanka when he was 90. 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: Odyssey Two are those of his most well known novels. I am back with one of my post about managing your finance. I have written about managing family finance before and now I want to mention some tips about financing your business if you have your own business.

Most of top bloggers have changed the way they manage their blog incomes by registering a company. The company has the ownership of the blog and the blogger and probably his/her family members become share holders of the company. This is reasonable for a blog which is making $1,000 a day. In that case the company pays for their life including their house. The reason they do that is tax! This way they pay less tax than the case they had the ownership of the blog. If you are a blogger or not and you are applying for a commercial mortgage pay attention to the following points:

Last week I received a letter from Spain stating that I had won $1,000,000 in a lottery! A copy of the ticket was also attached. I noticed my name on the letter and they were asking for my credit card number and other bank accounts information to send the money. I was like what the hell?! Where did they get my name and address from? And know they are asking for my credit card information to send me money? That is stupid! Have you or one of your friends ever had a Personal Injury in an accident? If your answer is yes then you might have experienced a situation in which you wanted to claim compensation. For some reasons that I explain below I would suggest asking a legal service provider to do all the job for you.

1. After the accident, the only thing you have to think about is your injury. You want to get well as soon as possible and come back to your work. You don't want to bother your mind dealing with legal stuff.
2. Unless you are a lawyer, you really do not have much idea about what legal action you need to take or what are your legal rights. Actually legal stuff has its own language which I myself do not understand much. So I prefer to ask an expert to do it for me.
3. Even if you know enough about your right, it might happen that you can not get the maximum compensation defined for the injury. You know it is not really easy to get all that amount from the insurance companies.

Earthquake and its effects on home owners

I was visiting news section of a website about Homeowner Loans. First of all it was interesting that such a website has a part for news. So I picked up one of the news to write about. You remember the earthquake which occurred in Britain recently? The quake was measured at 5.2 on the Richter scale. A new research suggests that that earthquake was a cause of financial losses for home owners. So where is the problem?

The earthquake damaged a number of houses. Those who had insurance for this kind of accidents were covered and now they are happy. However, there were homes without insurance and now the owners are in trouble as some of them might end up with getting into unmanageable debt.

The point I get from this study is that you never know when the circumstances happen. They are very unexpected and they might cause a lot of unexpected damage too. The best way is to think about them and tale care of them in advance. Home insurance is a good suggestion. But if you are one of those whose houses were damaged in the earthquake and you do not have enough cash for repairs, you might want to consider some loans as a temporary solution.

Are you that kind of person who likes to sleep well? Actually everybody likes to have a nice sleep at night. I always care about my bedroom. It is not only how comfortable the mattress is , but the colors and decoration are also important factors. But what is the main part of bedroom? That's right : the bed! Beds can be made of wood or metal, and the colors and textures could be different.

Let's have a look at a bed supplier in UK. If I wanted to choose one of their products I would go with one of those leather beds. They look nice and they are comfortable. A lot of snow!

Nobody expected such a snow in Canada today. We had a bike outside and its now fully under snow and we can not see it any more! Our balcony is piled up with snow. I just went outside to take out the garbage and I saw 2 cars in our parking lot stuck in snow. I think that is enough snow for this year. We wish to welcome the spring.

As a graduate student I used to teach a lot. But if you are running a business that is a different story. You may need to run some Sales Training courses for your staff. The reason is obvious , they need to know how to sell stuff. The more they sell the more you get , right.

I always look at this kind of training as investment. You spend some money in the beginning, but the amount you will earn later is not comparable with your investment at all. After you trained your staff try to rank them. You want to keep all of them happy but remember you really want to keep best of them. So pick those who are best and next time you want to train your new staff they can do it for you.

international fashion show

There was an international fashion show tonight in Toronto which was really interesting . There were students from all over the world with different cloths . Lots of food was also served. I will add pictures later.

If you have a business then one way of improving it is Telemarketing.
There are lot of people doing that actually. You might think that it is a bad way of selling stuff. But I do not agree with you. You can actually train your staff to talk very nicely to people. In fact if you are selling something useful why you do not call people and ask them if they like your products. Telemarketing is a big industry and I like it. You can hire people to call customers and sell stuff. Then they can get commission on what they sell.

If you look at your phone book you might see phone numbers of a lot of friends in it. There is no better way to advertise a product than "word of mouth". So you pick up the phone , call your family and friends and see if they are interested in the product you are selling. It is more probable that your friends trust you and buy the product. That is really an easy way of making money. You can spread the word and ask your friends to call their own friends and do the same thing. Then you can give them commission on their sales. Making money can not be easier than this if you have a product to sell.

ultra high vacuum technology

Well, part of my instrumentation in the lab was done today. We are reaching a vacuum of 10^-11 torr. That is amazing! I use a big pump and then I back up the exhaust line of it with another vacuum pump and the exhaust line of the second pump is again being pumped out with a third pump!

Debt Management

I am back again with one of my posts on Debt Management. It might have happened to all of us that at some point we borrowed some money. Those who are married and they have a family might encounter such situation more than others. Some people borrow so much money without enough back support that may even go bankrupt. Nobody likes to go bankrupt, right? So what should we do with it?

The answer is obvious: we have to return the money back as soon as we can. Never borrow more than what you can afford to return. You always have to think of new ways of investment. See if you can find a way which help you decrease the pressure and stress for a while and in that period try to establish new opportunities for yourself.

Credit cards are helpful only for short time periods, but better to have them anyway. I always apply for as many credit cards with no annual fee as I can. When I get them I use them once a while only and I keep them just in case I need to borrow money. If I borrow some money from one credit card I can pay the loan back with the second card after a month. Then I pay the loan of the second card one month later using the third credit card. I do this until I find a way of making some additional money and pay the whole thing back with real money. That is how I handle it, what about you?

How to become a billionaire?

You know Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of social network Facebook, right? His name is now among the billionaires of the year according to Frobes magazine. Not only is this his first time on the list, but Mark is now the youngest billionaire in the world at only 23.

This is my point: internet has brought so many new ideas with it that anybody can think of becoming a millionaire or even a billionaire. Recently, everyday I read stories of success about good internet based start ups or website which was sold for millions. So that shows we can really count on making money online if we have some new ideas.

My first experience of "Making Money Online"

When you are a student it happens that you are in need of some extra cash. You may just want to save it, or you may want to have some fun. I had that feeling since long time ago, however, as I had the experience of working as a pizza delivery guy, I knew how hard the fast food kind of works are. I was also too busy with my studies and I only had a couple extra hours each day to work. So it came to my mind that how can I make money on internet when I am at home. Well, blogging has been one of my successful tries. That is right, you can get paid to blog.

I heard about payperpost few months ago when I was reading a post in a money making blog. When you start a new business you want to know whether it will work or not. Making money online is not an exception. It is always hard to make the first dollar and after that by repeating the same process you can make the second , the third, etc. I should say that if you are really interested in making money online then you should start with a blog and just after one month by having at least ten posts you can submit your blog and if it gets approved you can make money by writing about products and services.

If you have a job and you have a good credit history you will have a great chance of getting a mortgage for whatever reason you need it for. It can be for your personal use or it can be for your business.

Purchasing your first home is not an overwhelming decision if you really think about your steps. tidy up

It was a tidy up day for a high-tech lab! We had to replace air filters, take out all stuff we didn't need any more and most important thing we had to find the right place for the shiny instrument I have made for new experiments. I am so excited about it. I have ordered the last piece of it and I will receive it in the next couple weeks. I will right about our experiments later.

Do you have a car? If you do then its really important to have a place for it also! Well, it is kind of obvious, however, what I mean is really a closed area. You may have rain or snow in half of a year in Canada, so better to think of a garage. Even if you do not have a car you may think of an extra storage. But wasn't it easier if the garage was already made and there was only the installation remaining? I actually could not believe that there is a supplier for Concrete Garages on internet!

I am now living in an apartment, however if I was living in a house then I would need one of them. Such a garage could be useful in many ways. In my case I would use it as a small lab! I could set up my lasers, and all my instruments in it and that was right beside my house. You may say what a lazy crazy scientist! But that is exactly what I would do with it. If you have a place where you can set up lots of these garages together you can actually start a business and rent them as storage or garage. Look, you can even make money out of it!

affordable solar energy

As I mentioned before, my vote on the engineering challenges of the century is affordable solar energy. But I believe this is more a physics problem rather than an engineering problem. It is the problem of nano technology, thin films and surface science. I do not really see that much engineering in it!

What to do with your debt?

Well, My answer to the question above is Debt Management.

I always have a rule. I spend my real money not my credit. The only case I use my credit is when I am sure I am investing on something which pays me back the debt as well as some profit. This profit can be money or a new opportunity. But it's never just some stuff that I can live without. I may buy a car with my credit but that is only in the case that the car helps me to go to work and earn more money than I spent on it. So I always avoid debt.

But question is what to do when you have a lot of debt. You may see some people encountering bankruptcy. That means they can not afford their debt any more. That has never happened to me. But whenever I am close to a situation in which I may need to borrow some money, I start thinking about new possible ways of making money. That is true. If you stop thinking about the new places you can borrow money from and start thinking about new sources of income instead, you will never have to borrow any money. It may look difficult, however it always works for me.

cosmetic surgery

I was visiting a website about Breast Enlargement and I ended up reading some interesting piece of news about the number of cosmetic surgery procedures in US for 2007. It's about "11.7 million"! Comparing with UK (32,453 procedures in 2007) that is incredible. It is also good to know that more than 90% of it were done on females. I do not know about the numbers in Canada but it must be somewhat close to US. The average girls in North America are fatter comparing with Europeans. So it looks reasonable that Americans struggle to get a better shape anyway. May be I am wrong because cosmetic surgery is not just related to fat removal.

Cactus Fruit

Last night I was doing my weekly grocery shopping in a local mall and I was surprised when I saw some "Cactus Fruits" with discounted price. It looks kind of green , but you can't imagine the pink color inside. The thing that bothered me was the number of seeds you have to get rid of! It is a sweet juicy fruit though. I will write about nutrition facts later.
