my new supervisor

I have changed my supervisor. I was not happy with my last supervisor and I changed him eventually. I didn't tell him that he is not good but instead I accepted all the faults. It will be a peaceful separation I guess.

Black Friday

If you live in States you know the famous Black Friday. That is the day after Christmas when all the people rush to stores to buy stuff. People spend what ever money they have and borrow what ever money they can to spend. So it is good to say that people spend like crazy on such a day. The only reason they buy stuff in Black holiday is that they can save money in their Christmas shopping. But if you have ever experienced a Black Holiday shopping you may know that there is a huge line up. But there is a website which lets people purchase Black Friday items online without the hassle of having to stand in line at the store at 5am. If you check the thanksgiving ads in there then you will see that you pick up a store and choose their available items in it. My experience of shopping online shows that it can be very smooth and easy. The site also offers email alerts that let you know when new black friday ads have been posted. They tried to make it a consumer friendly site that can be useful for planning your holiday shopping next year. My favorite merchant is Toys R US. I could find some DVD players in there as well as some digital cameras. So do not forget to try this site on next Black Friday!

commercial contest

Today I am casting as a judge for Dockers and actually for Dockers contest. I have made a little clip for that and that was lots of fun. Dockers contest is a commercial contest in which you can make a commercial clip of not more than 30 seconds and submit it for judgment. The grand prize winner will be announced between June 7 and june 13, 2008 as the highest scoring finalist. The prize is not any money or cash, but it is something very interesting. Your submission as a winner will be submitted for consideration to NBC as a commercial to be aired once during the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. That would be a lot of fun. I like to see mine on NBC! So if you like everybody see your clip on NBC try your best to win! Good luck!

sleeping disorder

Last night I had a sleeping disorder. I couldn't sleep before 5 am and the result is this! I actually had a kind of breakfast at 4:30 am also and I woke up at 11 am! I have to rush to work before they fire me.

favorite pair of pants

Have you thought about your pants?! Have you ever looked at them carefully? Do you exactly know what are your favorite pair of pants? Oh, man! Why should I ask all these questions! There is a reason behind it!

There is a very interesting commercial contest which is called Dockers contest. The first thing you should do is to go to their website and have a look at it. So what is this contest about? Dockers contest is all about your favorite pair of pants. Dockers contest wants people to create their own stories about their pants and submit these stories as videos to the Dockers TV Commercial Contest (www.nbc.com/Dockers).

That is a very cool idea, isn't it! There is a note in their page "Do not forget to come back and vote for the finalist". So that is people who vote on who is the best. Another interesting point about this contest is that no purchase is necessary. If you look at the rules of the contest it starts with this: " NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED."

The bad thing about it is that only residents of the US can participate in the contest. I wish I could participate because that is a cool idea. So if you live in States why don't you go ahead and make your video about your favorite pair of pants and submit it for the contest. If you do that and leave a comment I will vote for you. Good luck!

Vitamin D may reduce breast cancer risk

I have read a lot of stuff about vitamins and I believe having some fish in our weekly meal plan will help our body to get some of the vitamin D needed. I was reading news and there is one interesting piece of it that "Vitamin D may lower breast cancer risk."

a social network for bloggers

I have signed up for SocialSpark since a couple weeks ago and I was looking for an opportunity to write about it. For those of you who do not know what it is I would say that it is a new social network. But it is quite different from what you have seen before like for example Facebook or Orkut. So what is the main difference? Well, in this new social network you can make money also! That is great , isn't it?

Of course I will answer how your other question :"how to make money there?"! It is very easy. You have to have a blog which meets their regulations. Then you sign up your blog with your account in that social network. You basically have a profile page (see mine here) where other members can see parts of it. Then you can go to another section which is called "marketplace". There, you can find "opportunities". If you write about those opportunities in your blog, you will be paid for it.

The first page you see when you visit their website has a short introduction video clip. There you can see what is the main idea and they review the whole thing for you in few minutes. The sign up process is easy and quick, but your blog must have been live out there for at least 90 days. When you have made your profile you can go to other profiles and find some friends. Friends usually exchange links for their blogs. Easy, eh!

fireworks

There are a lot of fireworks around tonight. I was just in the balcony and a guy was setting up some fireworks in the park. I try to take some pictures. You need a fast shutter for this purpose I guess.

my favorite way to be scared

I like scary movies and I watch them to refresh my feelings! I mean I want to get scared sometimes not to forget it and watching such movies is an easy way of doing it! So today I want you to go ahead and watch the Trailer of a harrowing movie which might be interesting also!

The name of this movie is Frontier(s) and it is not a rated movie. It came to selected theaters on May 9th and it has been available on DVD since May 13th. If you visit their website you can download a poster of this movie also.

During the violent aftermath political election, a gang of young thieves goes to Paris. The story starts when they figure out that it is a group of neo-nazis who run that place. Karinta Texta and Aurelien Wiik played the lead role in this movie and it was directed by Xavier Gens.

Most unrated movies do not get to the theaters and this film is doing so. If once again you want awake your forgotten sensation of scaring from something you should consider watching this movie. I am sure you won't move during all the 90 minutes of it. I will go and see it again in a theater. Have a nice weekend!

plan for weekend's food?

Do you have any plan for cooking something different this weekend? I may go buy some trout and cook them carefully. Think about it and share your ideas with me. Sea food is always good for your health.

an embarrassing moment

I was thinking about my most embarrassing moment of my life which happened when I was in the primary school. I am explaining that in a short video. But the whole point is that you come out of your "shell"! If that doesn't make sense I explain it to you! "Shell" always reminds me of eating oysters. I was in a trip to a casino last week and we got a free buffet there. So I had a chance of trying some oysters. But I was thinking whether what I had was healthy or not. Well, today I had a look at a website about Gulf oysters. I didn't know that you can find a website which gives you such specific information about oysters. If you plan to make some oysters this weekend why don't you go to "Be Oyster Aware" website and have a look at the information given there.

long weekend

I like that we have a long weekend this week in Canada. I can enjoy doing my favorite stuff. Have a nice long weekend!

Euro 2008 soccer fans could face a shortage of French fries next month?!

The Swiss government has agreed to ease restrictions on the importation of potatoes following fears that Euro 2008 soccer fans could face a shortage of French fries next month.

A spokesman for the country's department of agriculture told national radio on Wednesday that the government would allow an additional 5,000 tonnes of potatoes to be brought in.

The decision follows a request by Swiss potato industry association Swisspatat who warned that supplies were already running low in the buildup to the June tournament.

The association has estimated that 3,000 additional tonnes will be needed to make chips for foreign supporters, with the remaining 2,000 used for other forms of potato.

Switzerland has already been fretting over dwindling supplies of its beloved 'cervelat' sausage following a European Union ban on the Brazilian cows' intestines traditionally used to encase the meat.

Economics minister Doris Leuthard, who is also responsible for agriculture, told the national parliament in March there were enough cervelats in reserve to last at least through Euro 2008.

The tournament runs from June 7 to 29 and will be co-hosted by Switzerland and neighboring Austria.

Mango eating competition

With the arrival of summer and mango season, India's western city Mumbai plays host to the 6th annual mango eating competition.

Around 30 people took part, having to eat as many mangoes as possible in 3 minutes. And if they could stomach any more, the winners were rewarded with a fresh box of the fruit.

The competition was a part of the six-day Konkan Festival that started on May 06 and will end on May 12.

Woman fired for giving 16-cent treat to toddler

An attendant at a Canadian restaurant who was sacked for giving a bite-sized doughnut, worth 16 cents, to an agitated toddler was given her job back on Thursday after the case received wide media attention.

Nicole Lilliman, a single mother, said she was dismissed from a London, Ontario, outlet of the Tim Hortons coffee and doughnut chain after video cameras captured the 27-year-old giving a Timbit to a toddler.

"It was just out of my heart, she (the toddler) was pointing and going 'ah, ah...' I should have gone to my purse and got the change, but it was busy," Lilliman told the Toronto Star newspaper.

Tim Hortons said on Thursday that the firing was a mistake.

"It was the unfortunate action of one manager who unfortunately made an overzealous decision, and thankfully we were able to rectify the situation," said company spokeswoman Rachel Douglas.

Douglas said the company, a Canadian icon with stores on virtually every high street across the country, told Lilliman that she could have her job back, and Lilliman had accepted.

A single Timbit sells for 16 Canadian cents (16 U.S. cents), but most shoppers buy boxes of 10, 20 or 40 of the deep-fried goodies, which come in a variety of flavors.

Douglas said Tim Hortons had received a number of complaints. "Thankfully we're able to go back to them and say we were able to fix the situation," she said.

New Media Expo

4th Annual New Media Expo 2008 is being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center on August 14-16. Already, attendees from 35 states and 22 countries have registered to attend. The Expo is a hands-on, exciting, "how-to" event with practical conference sessions about how to produce high-quality online content, grow a loyal audience, and market or monetize that content in creative ways. Why don't you go ahead and register!

outlaw out-of-season vegetables?

You like cooking , don't you?! Of course, you do! I sometimes follow up what Gordon Ramsay does in the media. This time he is saying something surprising. It looks like he doesn't like out-of-season vegetables!

Celebrity British chef Gordon Ramsay said restaurants should be fined if they serve out-of-season fruit and vegetables, reported Reuters.

"I don't want to see asparagus in the middle of December. I don't want to see strawberries from Kenya in the middle of March. I want to see it home-grown," he said after raising his concerns with Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

"Fruit and veg should be seasonal. Chefs should be fined if they don't have ingredients in season on their menu," he told the BBC on Friday.

Ramsay, whose London restaurants include Petrus and The Savoy Grill, said Britain had become a nation of lazy eaters who followed trends and fads rather than substance.

"There should be stringent laws, licensing laws, to make sure produce is only used in season and season only," he added.

There are many reasons to watch a scary movie.

I have always liked scary movies for many reasons.

First of all thee is nothing that I can get scared of. So I am always looking for something which gives me this feeling. I shouldn't forget it right?!

The other reason is that you never now what will happen in a scary movie. You can expect anything at any time. Somebody may kill another person or somebody may die from a stupid reason while he could be saved.

The third reason that I like horror movies is that you do not like to sleep watching such movies and even if you want to you can not! If the movie is boring I will definitely sleep but that is not the case with a scary movie.

This might not be suitable for all the audiences, but if you want to go to cinema and you are after a scary movie, you may want to consider Frontiers. I was watching the trailer of this truly harrowing movie on internet and i really enjoyed it. It has been released on DVD on March 13 and it has been shown in selected theaters since May 9th. To have a look at the theaters where you can find this movie have a look here and select theater listings.

This film is not rated, but you know it is not always needed for the movies to be rated. I think sometimes they count on the audience's discretion. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this movie!

Michelle Duggar mpm of 18 kids

It's Mother's Day. So congratulations to all lovely moms. Have you bought your gifts? Not yet?! Oh, bad boy! But there is a mom in this world who is a mom of 18! So we should all congratulate this day to her also.

Mother's Day is a bigger deal to Michelle Duggar than most Moms.

The 41-year-old Arkansas woman is pregnant with her 18th child. Duggar says she is due on New Year's Day. The latest addition to the family will join seven sisters and 10 brothers, all of whose names start with the letter J.

The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months.

The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 650-square-metre home.

Duggar and her husband, Jim Bob, say they plan to keep having children as long as God wills it.

Duggar has been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health.

The new show looks at life inside the Duggar home, where chores - or "jurisdictions" - are assigned to each child.

One episode involves a "jurisdiction swap," where the boys do chores traditionally assigned to the girls, and vice versa, Duggar said.

"The girls swapped jurisdictions, changing tires, working in the garages, mowing the grass," she said. "The boys got to cook supper from start to finish, clean the bathrooms," among other chores.

"The success in a family is first off, a love for God, and secondly, treating each other like you want to be treated," Jim Bob Duggar said. "Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen."

The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jennifer, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 16; Jessa, 15; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 10; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 7; James, 6; Justin, 5; Jackson, 3; and Johannah, 2.

Screening program decreased prostate cancer deaths

Prostate cancer deaths fell substantially in the decade after one Austrian state began free PSA screening tests for all men ages 45 to 75, according to a new study.

According to Reuters, researchers found that after the state of Tyrol began a program of free PSA screening and prostate cancer treatment in 1993, the expected death rate from prostate cancer dropped by 54 percent. That compared with a decline of 29 percent in the rest of Austria, where free screening was not available.

The findings, reported in the journal BJU International, suggest that routine PSA testing can save men's lives -- something that has long been an open question.

PSA tests measure the amount of a protein called prostate-specific antigen in a man's blood. Because prostate tumors cause PSA levels to rise, routine PSA testing can catch the cancer early.

But PSA screening is controversial because it is not clear that the benefits outweigh the risks. Prostate cancer is often very slow-growing, and PSA screening may lead to treatment of tumors that would never have become life-threatening; treatment can carry side effects, like incontinence and erectile dysfunction.

In addition, PSA concentrations can increase for a reason other than prostate cancer and confirmation of prostate cancer requires a biopsy of the prostate gland, which itself can have side effects, such as infection or bleeding.

However, in the current study, early detection through widespread PSA screening is likely the driving force behind the greater drop in death rates seen in Tyrol, according to the researchers.

Between 1993 and 2005, nearly 87 percent of men ages 45 to 75 in Tyrol had at least one PSA screening test, the study found. That was up from 11 percent before the free program began.

And while prostate cancer death rates declined throughout Austria during the same period, they fell faster in Tyrol.

"Before the program was introduced, prostate cancer death rates in the Tyrol were similar to the rest of the country," lead researcher Dr. Georg Bartsch, of the University of Innsbruck, said in a statement.

"But after the program was launched the death rate in the Tyrol started falling by an average of 7.3 percent a year, more than twice the 3.2 percent observed in the rest of Austria."

The researchers acknowledge, however, that routine PSA screening remains controversial, and questions such as which men stand to benefit most from screening are still unresolved.

In general, experts recommend that men speak with their doctors about the potential benefits and risks of PSA screening for them personally. The American Cancer Society recommends that doctors offer most men PSA testing and a digital rectal exam yearly, starting at age 50.

lower breast cancer risk if being breast-fed?

According to a report by Reuters, adult women who were breast-fed as infants may have a lower risk of developing breast cancer than those who were not breast-fed, unless they were first-born, study findings suggest.

"As a general group, women who reported they had been breast-fed in infancy had a 17 percent decrease in breast cancer risk," Hazel B. Nichols, who was involved in the study, told Reuters Health.

"However, we did not observe this reduction when we looked specifically among first-born women," said Nichols, of the University of Wisconsin, in Madison.

A woman's age at childbirth helps predict the levels of environmental contaminants in her breast milk, and studies have suggested a possible link between increased breast cancer risk and the accumulation of these contaminants, Nichols and colleagues note in the medical journal Epidemiology.

To analyze whether an adult woman's birth order, mother's age at the time of her birth, and whether or not she was breast-fed alters her risk for breast cancer, the investigators interviewed 2,016 women, aged 20 to 69 years, with breast cancer, and 1,960 women of similar age without breast cancer.

As noted, women breast-fed during infancy generally had reduced breast cancer risk.

However, in analyzes restricted to breast-fed women, those with 3 or more older siblings had a lesser risk for breast cancer than first born women, the researchers found. But breast-fed women showed no altered breast cancer risk according to their mothers' age at childbirth.

Among women who were not breast-fed, reduced adult breast cancer risk was linked with their mothers' older age at childbirth, but the investigators identified no association between breast cancer risk and birth order in this group.

While the current results hint that breast cancer risk may differ according to whether or not women were breast-fed during infancy, additional studies are needed to determine if these associations vary with duration of breast-feeding or according to measured levels of environmental contaminants present in breast milk, Nichols said.

big community of making money online people.

There is a new blogger social network called SocialSpark. Their code of ethics is as follows:

-100% Audit-able In-Post Disclosure
-100% Transparency
-100% Real Opinions
-100% Search Engine Friendly.

There is a lot that can be done though. It is very interesting that other users also think like that: "For me the dynamic pricing is probably the most frustrating part of it. If you reserve an opp at $5 that morning it could be 11 or 15 by that afternoon, just because there are no slots left for it so no one can take it. The other problem with this pricing is that an opp that is $15 when you wait for a slot, may only be worth $5 when you do it. Now if you have never done paid blogging before you may not get why this is an issue. Some advertisers want a lot put into a post and sometimes all of that work is not worth $5 to a blogger, but it may be worth that $15 that the blogger first saw."

On the other hand one is able to check out people's profiles which is interesting. It is like a whole bunch of people making money all together. A big community of making money online people: that is what I call it.

OK, IZEA have more plans with Social Spark I guess which will apparently revolutionize the advertising market for bloggers. They made their own page ranking to be able to fight with Google's page ranking which penalizes the paid blogs. SocialSpark is targeting the blogger demographic, and they’re up-front and honest about the aims of the network.

I like this idea any way . And I hope this market doesn't get saturated by the number of blogs and bloggers doing this business.
